TAKING THE EGO OUT OF WRITING, AND GETTING DOWN TO THE SCIENCE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION:

Many of us want to write “The Great xxxxxx Novel”; preferably with the long-winded and descriptive-impressive styles of 19- and 20-century literary icons. It can easily become an exercise in literary soapbox masturbation where the reader’s ability to follow and comprehend is overtaxed. Not so very unlike contemporary conceptual artists insisting that the emperor’s new clothes are high fashion for intellectual minds. Those who admit that they « do not get it » are stupid.
